About the Destination
AlUla - The World's Greatest Open-Air Museum
AlUla occupies a 200-kilometre valley in northwestern Saudi Arabia, one of the oldest continuously inhabited landscapes on earth. The ancient Nabataean city of Hegra, with its 111 monumental tombs carved from rose-gold sandstone, predates Petra and was Saudi Arabia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site. The broader AlUla region contains thousands of years of human history: Dadan Kingdom ruins, Jabal Ikmah's open-air library of rock inscriptions, and the remarkable natural geology of Elephant Rock.
The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has transformed the region's infrastructure since 2019, without compromising the landscape. AlUla Regional Airport now receives direct domestic connections, a collection of exceptional hotels has opened, and the acclaimed Winter at Tantora festival draws international performers to the iconic Maraya concert hall (the world's largest mirrored building). The result is a destination that combines genuine archaeological significance with contemporary luxury in a way that has no equal.
The best time to visit is October through March, when temperatures sit between 18 and 26 degrees. In these months, the canyon light at golden hour is extraordinary, the rose and amber tones that saturate the sandstone cliffs are unlike anything else in the natural world.

How do I get to AlUla from the UK, US, or Australia?+
AlUla Regional Airport (ULH) receives direct flights from Riyadh (1h 30m), Jeddah (1h 20m), and Medina (1h). From the UK and US, fly to Riyadh or Jeddah and connect. Total journey time from London is approximately 8-9 hours. Domestic connections are straightforward to book.
